Overview
For travellers who want a genuinely different kind of safari — quiet, paddled, and close to the water rather than behind a vehicle windscreen — this fully inclusive canoe expedition takes you down the Lower Zambezi from Kiambi Safari Lodge, camping on remote islands each night as you go.
After a first night settling in at Kiambi in an air-conditioned luxury tent, two full days of paddling follow, with lunch taken riverside on the banks of the Zambezi and dinner each evening at that night’s island campsite. Wildlife viewing happens naturally and often dramatically from water level — hippos, crocodiles, elephants at the river’s edge, and rich birdlife throughout. On the final day, a boat transfer returns you to Kiambi for breakfast, before the road transfer back to Lusaka.
This is also one of the most accessible wilderness experiences from Lusaka — a genuine multi-day canoe expedition without a long flight, making it a strong option for travellers with limited time who still want something real and immersive.
